Indiana gaming control divison created

16 July 2007

INDIANA -- As reported by the Indiana Journal and Courier: "The estimated 5,000 to 40,000 illegal electronic gambling devices across Indiana may soon be tracked down and their operators penalized.

"The Gaming Control Division, a 16-member police force under the Indiana Gaming Commission, was created by Indiana House Bill 1510 and became law on July 1. It focuses solely on illegal gambling enforcement. Larry Rollins, a 34-year veteran of the Indiana State Police, is lead director.

"Officers will investigate complaints and use information from other agencies to aid investigations across the state.

"...Possession of an electronic gambling device is a Class A infraction, which carries a penalty of up to $10,000.

"A business or individual profiting from a machine is considered to be maintaining a professional gambling site and/or promoting gambling, and could be charged with a Class D felony..."
