Indiana Extends Proposal Deadline15 April 2005INDIANA – As reported by the Louisville, Kentucky Courier-Journal: "Responding to a request for more time, Indiana's gambling regulators yesterday extended by a week the application deadline for bidders proposing to develop an Orange County casino. "That means the competitors for the state's 11th riverboat will be revealed by next Wednesday when initial applications -- and a non-refundable $50,000 fee -- are due at the Indiana Gaming Commission's Indianapolis office. "Executives of Merit Management Group of Chicago asked for the additional time to examine the project. It was granted because commission members had said previously that they want to encourage a healthy competition for the project, spokeswoman Jennifer Arnold said yesterday. "No other deadlines in the casino selection process will change, Arnold said, which means the commission still is to receive final applications by May 4 and could select an operator by late June. "…Yesterday's delay was only the latest in a competition that has proven more difficult than expected…" |
