Indiana counties target casino customers

FRENCH LICK, Indiana – As reported by the Bedford Times: "In southern Indiana, springtime means more than morel mushrooms. The lengthening of the days and the warming of the nights also are a boon to tourism.

"And this year, Indiana counties — especially along the Ind. 37, U.S. 150, Ind. 145 and Ind. 56 corridors — will keep a close eye on more than the usual festivals, boating, hiking, fishing, camping and color-changing leaves.

"Since the October opening of the French Lick Resort Casino, gambling has been on the radar for the Bloomington/Monroe County Convention and Visitors Bureau.

"…Spring Mill State Park Manager Mark Young said park officials have talked with Lawrence County Tourism officials, but no specific steps have been taken yet.

"…As with Monroe County, Lawrence County tourism officials are closely watching the casino, but they haven't taken any definite steps…"
