Indiana commission member won't return13 September 2007INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana -- As reported by the Evansville Courier Press: "If and when the Indiana Gaming Commission hears the complaint lodged about Casino Aztar's layoffs, it will do so without a longtime commission member from Evansville. "After 14 years as a Democratic member of the gaming commission, Donald Vowels is leaving because his term expired and Republican Gov. Mitch Daniels did not reappoint him. The governor has not named a replacement, so when the seven-member gaming commission convenes today, it will have only six members. "In March, Mayor Jonathan Weinzapfel lodged a complaint against Casino Aztar's new owner, Columbia Entertainment, alleging the company reneged on an earlier staffing level promises by laying off 70 Aztar employees. Weinzapfel requested the commission investigate. "...Gaming Commission executive director Ernest Yelton said Wednesday the investigation is ongoing.
