Indiana Casino Workers Play Santa

GARY, Indiana – As reported by the Indiana Post-Tribune: "Alyssa Gossett, 10, a Franklin Elementary third grader, was guaranteed hair care products and one of the popular Bratz dolls on Monday night.

"…Gossett was among 150 kids from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest Indiana who were guests at the Fourth Annual Holiday Gifts for Little Stars at the John Will Anderson Club in Gary.

"Sponsored largely by the Majestic Star and several other area companies, each of the nine area clubs sent about 20 kids to the party which included Wheel of Wisdom, a flashy Wheel of Fortune look alike game, hot dog meals and whatever two toys, purchased by casino employees, the kids requested on gift lists shaped like stars.

"Majestic Star employees, dressed in red and donning Santa Claus hats, dug into their pockets to buy the gifts and changed their schedules to work the party.

"…The guests were selected largely by need, said Rick Lewis, senior club director, but they also got social lessons along with toys and bikes.

"…Working on community projects is part of Majestic Star's mission statement, said Troy Keeping, the casino's vice-president general manager…"
