Indiana casino panel named

FRENCH LICK, Indiana -- AS reported by the Bedford Times-Mail: "All appointments have been made in forming a new group that will replace the Historic Hotels Preservation Commission, which served as the local group that helped move the casino project forward in Orange County.

"The new group, currently referred to as the Orange County Development Commission, is scheduled to conduct its first meeting on July 2 at 10 a.m. at the French Lick Community Building. The session is open to the public.

"Legislation pushed by State Rep. Jerry Denbo, D-French Lick, during the last legislative session, led to the abolishment of the HHPC and the establishment of the new commission.

"...The legislation, which was included as part of the state budget bill, called for the formation of a five-member commission that would be appointed by various governmental entities in Orange County..."
