Indiana Casino Numbers Mixed

INDIANA – As reported by the Cincinnati Enquirer: "May saw steady year-over-year revenue gains for two of Southeast Indiana's three riverboat casinos as gamblers sought a diversion from the wet weather last month.

"But the total betting handle - or amount of bets taken at the casinos - fell about 2 percent to $819.4 million.

"Switzerland County's Belterra Casino Resort & Spa - the newest of the three casinos downstream - recorded a 5 percent drop in its net 'win,' or amount left in casino coffers after wagers, compared with last year.

"…The number of bettors who came to Belterra fell from 184,164 for May 2004 to 161,535 last month - a 12 percent drop. The casino's total betting handle went from $170.7 million in May 2004 to $165.2 million last month…"
