Indiana Casino Investors Make Offer on Historic Hotel22 January 2004INDIANA – As reported by the Indianapolis Star: "The West Baden Springs Hotel, the once-grand dome that has sat empty for nearly two decades in Orange County, finally has a bidder. "A group of investors led by former Indiana State Police Sgt. Craig Adolph, who is vying to operate a new Orange County casino, offered more than $30 million on Wednesday to buy the landmark hotel. "The purchase of the hotel is contingent upon Adolph's group, Tranchant Indiana, being chosen to operate the casino, which could open next year. But to those who have worked to bring jobs and money back to the financially strapped county, the offer represents progress. "…Dubbed the 'Eighth Wonder of the World,' the West Baden Springs hotel is one of Indiana's historic structures. It was built in 1902 to serve gamblers and celebrities -- such as Al Capone and Bing Crosby -- flocking to the county's illegal casinos…" |
