Indiana Casino Developers Reveal Plans

INDIANA – As reported by the Indianapolis Star: "The only bidder for the state's 11th casino wants to lure a million people to Orange County each year with a nautically themed casino, a bistro, two golf courses and more convention space.

"Developers from Blue Sky Casino revealed more of their plans in a 350-page proposal submitted to the Indiana Gaming Commission on Wednesday, the state's deadline.

"…The centerpiece of the new project will be a 70,000-square-foot casino with 1,000 slot machines and at least 25 tables for games such as poker.

"…According to the group's executive summary, Blue Sky expects 1 million people will visit the casino each year, netting $84 million from gamblers' losses. The casino will pay an estimated $17.5 million a year in wagering taxes to the state, in addition to admission taxes of $4.2 million a year, the companies estimate.

"The casino will employ about 560 employees, who will be paid $17.1 million annually in salaries and benefits (or about $30,535 per employee, on average).

"…Eventually, Blue Sky wants to add more convention space, new restaurants, town homes, an RV park and apartments to the area…"
