Indiana Businesses Busted for Illegal Gambling Devices

INDIANA – As reported by the Fort Wayne Journal-Gazette: "Another nine northeast Indiana establishments have been cited in connection with electronic gambling devices, and 61 machines have been disabled, Indiana State Excise Police Lt. John Folk said Wednesday.

"The investigations, conducted Friday through Tuesday in response to complaints, targeted two establishments in Huntington, two in Markle, four in Fort Wayne and one in Marion.

"More investigations are likely, Folk said, because his Roanoke regional office has more complaints on file, including one submitted 11 days ago that listed 61 sites in northeast Indiana purported to have electronic gambling machines.

"Folk would not identify that complainant but said excise police are required to investigate every complaint they get.

"Police have said many of the complaints are anonymous, but authorities suspect some come from disgruntled businesses that have already been cited.

"The recent investigations bring to 13 the number of establishments cited since March 30. All told, 87 of 108 electronic gambling machines have been disabled and nearly $6,000 confiscated from the devices.

"…Northeast Indiana is not alone in experiencing a flurry of complaints about electronic gambling machines, commonly referred to as Cherry Masters…"
