Indiana Bill Proposes Video Pull Tabs

22 December 2003

INDIANA – As reported by the Thoroughbred Times: "State Representative Scott Reske (D-Pendleton) and state Senator Tim Lanane (D-Anderson) will take a shot at bringing expanded gaming to Indiana as they plan to file legislation to authorize video pull-tab machines with the House of Representatives in coming weeks.

"The bill is expected to be similar to last year's legislation, which would have allowed Hoosier Park and Indiana Downs to install up to 750 video pull-tab machines and 1,500 machines at off-track betting parlors in Indianapolis and Fort Wayne. The gaming machines were expected to produce upwards of $435-million annually in revenue and $120-million in profits for the tracks.

"…Reske believes the Indiana proposal could win support among lawmakers because it will help communities where the tracks are located, produce tax revenue that will be shared among all counties without gambling, and contribute to the state's beleaguered budget."
