India-Pakistan Cricket Tour May Lead to Gambling Record

PAKISTAN – As reported by the HT Cricket: "The Indian cricket team's tour of Pakistan after more than 14 years may give rise to a new record in gambling, fear officials.

"Bookies in Pakistan, India and in the United Arab Emirates are busy preparing for the series in their own way.

"'Presently, Pakistan is rated 1-2 against India based on their recent performances,' said a bookie in nearby Rawalpindi.

"The teams are scheduled to play three Tests, five one-day international matches and a limited over warm up match during the 39-day tour beginning Mar 10.

"'People have already invested about $50 million that will increase with every passing day, rather every hour closer to the game,' said the bookie who is part of a network covering several major cities like Karachi, Mumbai, Dubai, Sharjah and London.

"…According to him, some leading politicians and businessmen are also his clients…"
