Illinois Town Bans OTBs1 July 2005ILLINOIS – As reported by the Chicago Tribune: "Gambling opponents cheered a new Morton Grove law that bans off-track betting parlors, calling the measure among the first of its kind in the state. "The Morton Grove law is a model for other towns that don't want gambling, officials said Wednesday. "…The Village Board voted 4-3 Monday to adopt the ban, which was a response to a plan for a betting facility at property owned by Menards at 6301 Oakton St. "Mayor Richard Krier proposed the ban, which amends the town's zoning laws, and cast the vote that broke a 3-3 deadlock…" |
