Illinois Republicans back expanded gambling

SPRINGFIELD, Illinois -- As reported by The (Illinois) Daily Journal: "Republican lawmakers should just hold their noses and vote to expand gambling -- that's the message being given by the state's top GOP leaders.

"In a joint news conference Wednesday, House Minority Leader Tom Cross, of Oswego, and his senate counterpart Christine Radogno, of Lemont, called for a major expansion of gaming to fund improvements to highways and government buildings.

"...The other major alternative under consideration for funding a construction program is to raise the tax on gasoline..."
