Illinois Lottery Launches $150 Million Summer Promotion

CHICAGO, Illinois –- (PRESS RELEASE) -- This summer the Illinois Lottery has eight hot new games with more than $150 million in available prizes for its new summer promotion "Road to Riches."

Featuring the largest amount of available prizes of any promotion in Lottery history, "Road to Riches" also provides 20 lucky winners with a chance to walk away with a brand new Chrysler automobile and additional cash prizes of up to $1 million through a second-chance drawing. All second-chance prizes will be awarded Sept. 24, 2005 in Chicago during an exciting grand finale event hosted by Robin Leach of the hit show "Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous."

Similar to last summer's promotion, players must send in $30 in non-winning instant or online tickets from the "Road to Riches" ticket suite. Over a period of 20 weeks, one winner per week will be selected to receive a golden key. These 20 golden key winners will be invited to participate in the grand finale, where each person will use their key to unlock one of five different Chrysler car models including the 300C, the Pacifica, the Crossfire, the Town & Country and the Sebring.

Nineteen of these cars will have cash prizes ranging from $25,000 to $100,000 in the trunk and one lucky car winner will find $1 million in the trunk of their new car. "Last summer's promotion was amazing, but I think this one tops them all," said Illinois Lottery Superintendent Carolyn Adams. "$150 million in total prizes and 20 new cars with cash in the trunk -- our players can really look forward to big money and even bigger fun with 'Road to Riches.'"

The new "$50 Million Spectacular" game, which has the best odds and largest prizes of any Illinois Lottery instant ticket, is one of eight eligible prized-packed tickets players can use to enter the second-chance promotion. Other tickets include: "Let the Good Times Roll" ($1 ticket), "Life in the Cash Lane" ($2 ticket), "Carloads of Cash" ($2 ticket), "Hit the Road Jack" ($3 ticket), "Hot Streak" ($5 ticket), "Golden Key" ($5 ticket), and "Miles of Millions" ($10 ticket). All qualifying instant tickets are marked with a picture of the golden key. Online tickets purchased between April 1, 2005 and Sept. 14, 2005 also are eligible for the "Road to Riches" drawing.

The first second-chance winner will be announced on May 5, 2005. Players have two options to enter:

Option #2 - Online: Submit $30 in non-winning instant or online tickets from the "Road to Riches" ticket suite online at IllinoisLottery.com .
