Illinois Holds Public Forum

WAUKEGAN, Illinois – As reported by the (Chicago) News Sun: "Two noted opponents of the city's effort to land a casino gambling license will be among the speakers Thursday when the Illinois Gaming Board fields more public comment on the licensing process.

"Gurnee Mayor Don Rudny, who previously filed a letter of opposition with the Gaming Board, is scheduled to voice his objections at the meeting, which is expected to start at 9:30 a.m. in the fifth-floor auditorium of the Michael A. Bilandic Building, 160 N. LaSalle St. in Chicago.

"…Also on the roster of speakers is the Rev. Glenn Stewart of the Greater Waukegan Ministerial Association and the United Ministries for Christ. Last May, Stewart appeared before the City Council to present a statement signed by 73 Lake County clergy members opposing legalized gambling.

"…Gaming Board officials also announced Tuesday that Friday's meeting to announce a leading bidder will commence at approximately 10 a.m. in the same Bilandic Building conference room. The board will designate a leader from a field of finalists that includes Waukegan and Harrah's Entertainment Inc., Des Plaines and Midwest Gaming & Entertainment, and Rosemont and Isle of Capri Casinos…"
