Illinois casino expansion bill passes

SPRINGFIELD, Illinois – As reported by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch: "A major casino expansion bill narrowly passed a House committee Thursday, keeping alive the possibility of more games and patrons for the Alton and East St. Louis riverboats.

"The approved bill calls for four casinos to be added in and around Chicago and for existing casinos to be able to increase their capacity to 2,000 from 1,200 people.

"It also would allow existing horse racing tracks to operate a limited number of electronic games, such as slot machines and video poker…"
