Illinois Casino Bid Gets Backing15 March 2004CHICAGO, Illinois – As reported by the Chicago News Sun: "Illinois Senate President Emil Jones and four members of the Democratic Senate leadership team announced Sunday they have put their support firmly behind the Waukegan casino proposal. "The Illinois Gaming Board was scheduled to name a winner today in the bidding for the state's 10th casino license. "Jones, Assistant Senate Majority Leader Miguel del Valle, Assistant Senate Majority Leader Rickey Hendon, Majority Caucus Chair Debbie Halvorson and Assistant Majority Caucus Whip Terry Link, who represents Waukegan in the 30th District, are supporting the effort. "Waukegan gaming partner Harrah's Entertainment Inc. emerged from Wednesday's 15-hour auction in the lead, with a $520 million offer. Rosemont backer Isle of Capri Casinos Inc. was right behind with $518 million. The third bidder, Des Plaines gaming partner Midwest Gaming and Entertainment LLC ended at $476 million.
