Illinois Board Rejects 24-Hour Casino Plan23 October 2003CHICAGO -- Illinois Gaming Board members voted Wednesday against allowing the casino in East St. Louis to be open 24 hours. "The board also approved a new code of conduct to close a loophole that allowed the board's former administrator to resign and accept a job with a gambling company. And it voted to renew for four years the Alton Belle Casino license, which expires at the end of October. "Casino Queen executives last month asked the Gaming Board for permission to increase hours of operation from 22 to 24 hours a day. Illinois law allows 24-hour gambling, but the board must approve changes in hours.
