Illinois Bidders Narrowed Down to Three

25 February 2004

ILLINOIS – As reported by the Chicago Daily Herald: "…The Illinois Gaming Board is expected today to narrow to three finalists the list of seven bidders for the state's 10th casino license.

"Today's winnowing may once and for all end speculation on whether the Illinois Gaming Board believes the one bid that could put the state in an ownership position of a casino is a viable option.

"That bid, by Penn National Gaming, would put the casino in Rosemont, as would two other bids. But only Penn's bid provides for turning the casino over to the state to own.

"…In addition to the three Rosemont bids, there are also bids to put casinos in Summit, Des Plaines, Waukegan and Country Club Hills."
