iGGBA Opens Up Brussels Office

9 June 2004

BRUSSELS -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- The interactive Gaming, Gambling and Betting Association (iGGBA) have announced the opening up of their Brussels office to insure that the remote gambling industry is well represented in discussions on the EU level.

"This office will help extend the good work that the Association has been doing in the UK and provide a truly EU-wide remit for the remote gambling industry. With the EU Services Directive and previous legislation on e-commerce and money laundering, the time is right for the industry to speak regularly with EU officials" stated Andrew Tottenham, Chairman of iGGBA.

iGGBA has already met with officials from the European Commission and plans on holding further talks as the Services Directive progresses through the European Parliament and Council. The Commission has taken interest in the Codes of Practice and regulatory framework that iGGBA has put together and iGGBA will be working with the EU institutions to help decision-makers understand the industry and its efforts to provide a socially responsible platform.
