iGaming Ontario posts steady growth as market matures in year three

24 April 2025

(PRESS RELEASE) -- iGaming Ontario’s open competitive market continued to mature in its third year, with robust year-over-year growth resulting in $82.7 billion in wagers and $3.2 billion in gross gaming revenue.

“These results show Ontario is home to a truly dynamic igaming market with a strong roster of operators, and a world-class list of games available for players,” said Heidi Reinhart, Chair of the Board of Directors. “With 49 operators offering 84 gaming sites, Ontario’s regulated market continues to grow by offering a safer environment for Ontarians to play.”

- Total wagers in 2024-25 were $82.7 billion, a 31% increase over 2023-24. This figure does not include promotional wagers (bonuses).

- Total gaming revenue was $3.2 billion, a 32% increase over 2023-24. This figure represents total cash wagers, including rake fees, tournament fees, and other fees, across all Operators, player winnings derived from cash wagers and does not take into account operating costs or other liabilities.

Player choice drives success in Ontario
Competition is alive and well in Ontario’s open regulated market, and it’s the players who ultimately benefit from this unprecedented choice.

A large majority of Ontarians (83.7%) continue to choose play on regulated sites, according to a third annual IPSOS study commissioned by iGaming Ontario and the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO). However, there is more work to be done, as 20.2% of those playing on regulated sites are also still engaging with the unregulated market.

With thousands of games available across more than 80 regulated sites, Ontario’s open competitive iGaming market offers a diverse range of options alongside mandatory protections that the unregulated market does not.

- Casino wagers were $69.6 billion, a 34% increase over 2023-24. Casino games include slots, live and computer-based table games and peer-to-peer bingo.

- Casino gaming revenue was $2.4 billion, a 36% increase over 2023-24.

- Betting wagers were $11.4 billion, a 17% increase over 2023-24. Betting includes on sports, esports, proposition and novelty bets, as well as exchange betting.

- Betting gaming revenue was $724 million, a 23% increase over 2023-24.

- Peer-to-peer (P2P) poker wagers were $1.7 billion, a 2% increase over 2023-24.

- Peer-to-peer poker gaming revenue was $66 million, the same as 2023-24.
