Ho-Chunk Nation Launches Illinois Proposal

ILLINOIS – As reported by the (Chicago) Daily Herald: "Ho-Chunk Nation officials launched on Monday their first major attempt at a casino complex in Illinois since last year's proposal in Hoffman Estates, effectively shutting the door on the project for the Northwest suburbs.

"The proposal would put a casino in South suburban Lynwood.

"…The new plan is similar to the Hoffman Estates plan except that it is bigger and has had a congressional sponsor from the get-go.

"Officials want to build a casino, hotel and retail and entertainment venues on a 432-acre site in Lynwood, off of Interstate 394.

"…U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., a Democrat from Chicago, announced he would sponsor legislation to have the land put in trust as a reservation for the tribe…"
