High Rollers' Habits Exposed in Book28 September 2004AUSTRALIA – As reported by the Australia Daily Telegraph: "Australia's richest man, Kerry Packer, has been dubbed the 'Prince of Whales' in a new tell-all book on the world's leading casino high rollers. "Mr Packer's gambling habits are exposed in the recently released US book Whale Hunt in the Desert, in which casino host Steve Cyr breaks ranks by revealing inside stories of the biggest gamblers – 'whales'. "Mr Cyr, whose job is to cater to the whales' every whim, considers Mr Packer the highest of the high rollers - expecting, and receiving, whatever he wants from his hosts. "Described by Mr Cyr as the world's most "ferocious" high roller, the media magnate tops the list of well-known whales, which include basketball legend Michael Jordan and Hollywood star Ben Affleck. "…Anecdotes include the time in 1995 when he (Packer) was banned from further play at the MGM Grand Hotel after winning a staggering $US26 million ($36 million) and tipping a cocktail waitress $US130,000 ($183,000)…" |
