Hesperia Proposed Casino Lawsuit Settled

HESPERIA, California – As reported by the Desert Dispatch: "The environmental lawsuit challenging the proposed Indian casino here has been settled, eliminating a significant hurdle to the project.

"Hesperia officials say the casino project can begin now that the settlement has been finalized.

"…Crowe said a settlement was reached on Tuesday between the city of Hesperia, casino developer the Rinaldo Corporation and the Citizens to Enforce CEQA.

"The settlement states the city does not have to renegotiate an Municipal Services Agreement, something that many residents against the casino project were hoping for because a council majority now oppose the casino.

"The settlement also states that the Rinaldo Corporation will pay $35,000 dollars in legal fees to the plaintiffs, Citizens to Enforce CEQA…"
