Hesperia casino lawsuit returns to court

HESPERIA, California – As reported by the Victorville Daily Press: "An appeal in a lawsuit filed by an anti-casino citizens' group will be heard Friday in San Diego at the 4th District Court of Appeals.

"While the Timbisha Shoshone casino, proposed for a site in Hesperia, remained out of the news for much of the past year, Hesperia Citizens for Responsible Development v. City of Hesperia et al. has been progressing quietly through the appeals process.

"A Superior Court judge in Victorville ruled against the citizens' group in an August 2005 decision.

"The case was based upon state law that prohibits redevelopment agencies from directly or indirectly assisting with gambling, said attorney C. Robert Ferguson, who represents the group…"
