Helldorado Days Rodeo returns to the Plaza Hotel & Casino4 October 2024(PRESS RELEASE) -- The Helldorado Days Rodeo returns to downtown Las Vegas on 8 and 9 November at the CORE Arena at the Plaza Hotel and Casino and as part of the event’s commitment to celebrating the history of Las Vegas and western culture, the Plaza is again sponsoring a children’s coloring contest. Local students in grades kindergarten through six are encouraged to download, print out, and hand color a scene that pays tribute to the cherished community tradition. Prizes for first, second and third place will be awarded to students in each grade division (K-1, 2-3, and 4-6). Medal sponsor is Boulevard Trophy & Engraving, Inc., and other prizes from the Atomic Museum, Cowabunga Vegas, Las Vegas Desert Dogs, Las Vegas Mini Grand Prix, Las Vegas Natural History Museum, and more. Winning artwork will also be on display at the rodeo on 9 November. Entries are submitted online by completing an entry form and uploading a photo or scan of the hand-colored page online. Submissions are due Monday, 28 October and winners will be notified by Friday, 1 November. The Helldorado Days Rodeo is fully sanctioned by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association. The rodeo will feature bull riding, barrel racing, team roping, tie-down roping, steer wrestling, saddle bronc riding, breakaway, and bareback riding, with prize purses totaling $40,000. General admission to the rodeo is free but RSVP is recommended online. New this year, the Plaza will offer guaranteed, elevated VIP seating for $20 per ticket plus taxes, also available for purchase online. The Helldorado Days Rodeo also features related western-themed events, like mutton busting and a Whiskerino contest as well as a historical exhibit area. Sponsored by the Commission for the Las Vegas Centennial and the Plaza Hotel & Casino, the mission of the Helldorado Days Rodeo is to bring the community together to celebrate the spirit of Old Las Vegas, including those who shaped the city’s history and those who are working to preserve the western lifestyle while looking toward the future. |
