18 January 2019

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Harrah's Philadelphia Casino and Racetrack announced today that its new sportsbook will officially open to the public on 22 January at 2 p.m. The Grand Opening is scheduled for 12 p.m. on Thursday, 24 January, pending regulatory approval, with a celebratory ribbon cutting ceremony just minutes before the official opening. The first 1,000 guests to place wagers will be given commemorative “The Book” t-shirts.

“We are excited to bring sports betting to Delaware County and allow our guests from the tri-state area to experience our property in a whole new way,” said Harrah’s Philadelphia Senior Vice President & General Manager Chris Albrecht. “With our gaming offering, live harness racing, our event center, award-winning restaurants and now the sportsbook, Harrah’s Philadelphia remains a must visit destination in the Philadelphia region.”

Tuesday starts a two-day operational test period and approval from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB). The PGCB will hold testing on 22 and 23 January from 2 p.m. to midnight.

Harrah’s Philadelphia’s sportsbook will offer betting on a variety of sporting events like football, basketball, baseball, hockey, soccer, and college athletics. Betting options include straight bets, parlay bets, total bets, in-game betting, and more. Also, Total Rewards members will be able to earn valuable points for every wager made in The Book. Located in the back of the casino floor previously reserved for “The Block,” The Book at Harrah’s Philadelphia is equipped with 19 better-than-stadium lounge seats, 11 high-top tables, various bar seating and over 45 large screen TVs to watch the action live. Food and beverages tailored specifically for game day will also be available.

“The launch of retail sports betting at Harrah’s Philadelphia is another exciting milestone, showcasing Caesars Entertainment’s commitment to leading this expanding industry. The Harrah’s Philadelphia offering is fully integrated into Total Rewards, so customers can easily earn and redeem points for all Caesars amenities worldwide,” said Christian Stuart, EVP of Gaming & Interactive Entertainment for Caesars Entertainment. “The Caesars brands powered by SG Digital technology will be a powerful player as we expand across the U.S. in retail and mobile sports betting (pending regulatory approval).”
