Happy birthday to Hagerling! Poker pro wins $372,387, first WSOP bracelet18 June 2013Isaac Hagerling turned 26 and won the $3,000 buy-in Mixed Max No-Limit Hold'em event at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino on Monday, collecting $372,387 in prize money and his first gold bracelet. But don't expect a blowout celebration from Hagerling. When asked how he planned to celebrate, he responded, "Not hookers and blow. That's not my style. Seriously, I'm probably just going to put it in the bank." The young poker pro was born in Cleveland, Ohio. He attended college for a year at a small liberal arts school in Chicago before deciding to go off in a new direction and give poker a try. He played in casinos in the Chicago area for a few years before recently moving to Los Angeles. Hagerling now plays mostly cash games, specializing in high-stakes pot-limit Omaha. The cash game pro, however, has dabbled in tournaments. He's played at the WSOP the last few years, posting disappointing results he admits – at least up to this point. Now, Hagerling can say his work paid off and the wait was worth it. Hagerling survived a grueling three-day poker marathon of matches consisting of full table, six-handed, and heads-up play. He ultimately defeated Max Steinberg for the gold bracelet, who has now made three final tables in gold bracelet events this year. Steinberg took home a $231,501 consolation prize. Jeremy Ausmus and Jason Koon both won $132,748 when they were eliminated in the semifinals, while Yevgeniy Timoshenko, Dan Healey, Chris Johnson and Brandon Cantu advanced to the quarterfinals. Nick Binger made the round of 16, while Taylor Paur and Matt Waxman advanced to the round of 32. Other notable players who cashed included Erick Lindgren (45th), Daniel Negreanu (49th), Chris Moorman (51st), Dan O'Brien (52nd), Matt Marafioti (53rd), Tony Cousineau (54th), and Jason Mercier (63rd). Negreanu's cash was the 64th for his career, which ranks sixth on the all-time list. This currently ranks sixth on the all-time WSOP rankings, while Cousineau's cash was the 56th for his career – the record for most career cashes without a gold bracelet.
