Gun Lake Casino to remain open despite new restrictions in Michigan

(PRESS RELEASE) -- On Sunday, 15 November, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services issued a new emergency order that enacts a three-week epidemic response, which includes the closure of non-tribal casinos in Michigan. As a federally recognized Indian Tribe, the Gun Lake Tribe is a sovereign government and will continue to make decisions to protect the community, and this order has caused many to ask questions about the next steps at Gun Lake Casino.

Gun Lake Casino is confident in our Play It Safe Initiative, a thought out safety plan implemented during the casino’s initial re-opening in June. While Gun Lake Casino will remain open, to further protect the community, effective 9:00 a.m. on Friday, 20 November 2020 and until Wednesday, 9 December at 9:00 a.m., Gun Lake Casino will implement the following alterations to the amenities currently offered:
  • Hours of operation will remain 9 a.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Slots will remain operational, featuring Plexiglass barriers or spacing for social distancing.
  • All dining/drinking amenities will close, including: Harvest Buffet, Sandhill Café, Grab-n-Go and all Bars and alcohol service.
  • Beverage stations for coffee, soda, and water will remain open with full service from Gun Lake Casino Team Members.
  • The retail sportsbook counter and Stage 131 will be closed with sports betting kiosks available during normal operating hours.
  • All table games outside the High Limit Room will be closed.
  • High Limit Room will be open with limited room capacity.
  • Closure of Appliques Gift Shop.
  • East Rewards Center will remain open.
