GSN Names VP of Distribution16 September 2004SANTA MONICA, California – (PRESS RELEASE) -- Jan Hatcher has been named Senior Vice President of Distribution for GSN, the network the games. The announcement was made today by Rich Cronin, President and Chief Executive Officer of GSN, to whom she will report. Hatcher is based in GSN's Santa Monica headquarters and has oversight responsibilities for all areas of the network's distribution efforts for the Sony Pictures Entertainment and Liberty Media owned cable network. Not only is she charged with responsibilities involving subscriber acquisitions and retention, but will assist in the developmental plan of complementary products such as video-on-demand, international distribution and broadband initiatives for the 56 million home network. In making the announcement, Cronin said: "Jan has superb credentials and a proven track record increasing subscribers for a diverse portfolio of cable networks. We are fortunate that she is joining GSN to lead our distribution team as we continue to develop our brand's prominence with our cable partners. Her negotiating expertise, relationships and understanding of the issues facing our industry today will greatly contribute to our continuing success." Hatcher was a Senior Vice President of National Distribution at Lifetime in Los Angeles from 2001-2003. Prior to that, Hatcher was at Scripps Networks where she initially helped launch HGTV in 1994. During her tenure with Scripps, she held a number of posts including Vice President of the Western Region, overseeing HGTV's West Coast office and staff. She also served as Vice President of National Accounts and as such was in charge of MSO negotiations and contracts for both Food Network and HGTV. She was later promoted to Senior Vice President of Affiliate Sales & Marketing, where she oversaw affiliate sales efforts, affiliate trade and marketing and local ad sales programs for HGTV, Food Network and helped launch the Do-It-Yourself Network. Hatcher began her career in the cable industry at the Disney Channel, initially, as a director in the western region with responsibilities for cable systems in California and Hawaii. Subsequently, she served as a Director of National Accounts and managed a variety of corporate accounts, including Viacom, Times Mirror and Falcon. Before her career in cable, Hatcher served as Director of Investor Relations at Black & Decker Corporation in Baltimore, Maryland; Vice President of Development at Harman International in Washington D.C. and was a film and TV producer in the nation's capitol. Hatcher earned her MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and her bachelor of arts degree in history from Hollins College in Virginia, where she graduated with honors as a Phi Beta Kappa graduate. She also spent three semesters of her undergraduate studies at the University of Paris-Sorbonne. Hatcher is married and is the mother of a four-year-old daughter.
