GSA S2S Protocol Implemented8 April 2005LAS VEGAS – (PRESS RELEASE) -- Marking an adoption milestone, the Gaming Standards Association (GSA) announced that its new System-to-System (S2S) protocol has been successfully implemented at the Seminole Tribe properties in Florida as well as the Poarch Creek Band of Indians' Riverside Entertainment Center. These installations mark the first time the recently released protocol has been fully implemented in operational casinos. The S2S standard provides a solid foundation for central accounting and ticketing. Installation went smoothly and reports from the properties indicate the protocol is "working like a dream." GSA Chairman Lyle Bell said, "This is a landmark day for the industry. Today we have seen that standards work -- across systems, across manufacturers and across an entire casino operation. The future of gaming has arrived." The installations link together various gaming machines from Bally Gaming, IGT and Rocket Gaming Systems marking the first time Class II facilities have full accounting and ticketing functionality among machines from different manufacturers. In addition, the GSA S2S open industry protocol further links together QuickJack kiosks from NRT Technology. The GSA standard provides Class II casinos with unprecedented operational flexibility in choosing games from any vendor, as well as advanced player tracking and other casino-related systems. The benefit to casinos is a unified operation for ease of management and oversight, reduced system administration costs, a single set of accounting reports and a dramatically improved player experience. GSA President Peter DeRaedt said, "For seven years GSA members have been looking forward to this moment. The S2S open standard solves a serious business need for the Class II industry as a whole. The GSA S2S protocol is an industry enabler as it facilitates ticket in/ticket out, central accounting and player tracking across all vendors. GSA continues to move at the speed of business and these first installations clearly demonstrate the power that open standards bring to operators. 2005 is the year of adoption for GSA." System-to-System, or S2S, is a standardized communication protocol for the gaming industry based on commonly available computer technologies -- TCP/IP, XML, SOAP and Ethernet. |
