GSA Reports Update27 March 2006LAS VEGAS –- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Since announcing in January that it had reached consensus on three major points, the Gaming Standards Association (GSA) has made significant progress in developing its new Game-to-System (G2S) standard. The group is now releasing the protocol's core classes to its membership for a 30-day review and comment period. The G2S protocol consists of classes numbering over twenty in total. A small number of core classes will be required to be implemented by all gaming devices. The remaining classes provide applications and administrative functions, such as printer control, voucher usage and player tracking capabilities. Jim Morrow, VP of Advanced Development, Bally Technologies Inc. (NYSE: BYI), and Chair of the G2S Committee, said, "The regulator community, including Nevada, New Jersey, Ontario, GLI and states represented by GLI, are very interested in following GSA and the G2S protocol because it provides consistency across manufacturers, which increases speed of approvals." Russ Ristine, VP of Radical Blue Gaming and Facilitator of the G2S Merger Team, said, "Work on the core classes is basically finished, and the group will now be turning its attention to administrative classes, which allow operators to automatically configure machines on the gaming floor from a central server, rather than at each individual game." "One of the compelling features of G2S is the ability to automatically configure the floor from a central location. This is one of the features that will drive operators to encourage manufacturers to develop games on the G2S platform," Ristine said. In additional news, Adrian Marcu of IGT was recently elected Vice-Chair of the G2S Committee. |
