GSA Protocol Meets Needs

2 June 2005

LAS VEGAS – (PRESS RELEASE) -- A recent impartial technical review of the Gaming Standards Association's BOB (Best of Breed) protocol version 1.1 has shown that the protocol meets multiple communication needs and has many features that will benefit the gaming industry.

The independent review was conducted by Gaming Laboratories International (GLI). The testing lab found that BOB 1.1 meets many communication needs including secured communication protocol, significant events reporting, accounting meters, TITO, progressive, system bonus, restricted and unrestricted promotional applications and wagering account transfer (electronic funds transfer).

Additionally, the review showed BOB 1.1 has many benefits including improvement of network traffics, reliable message delivery, critical data encryption, advance meters and information reporting, direct connection of EGMs to multiple servers, and remote game and peripheral software applications.

In summary, the protocol was determined to have many features that will benefit the gaming industry, from operators to developers and even players.

GSA Chairman Lyle Bell said, "We are very pleased with the results of this independent review. Being comprised of manufacturers and operators alike, GSA's membership is very aware of GLI's impartiality and highly advanced technical capabilities, and we are thrilled with their findings."

The BOB 1.1 protocol is a standardized communication protocol that enables secure communications between gaming devices and gaming systems. BOB 1.1 standardizes communication protocols, enabling machines and systems of different manufacturers to communicate correctly with each other.
