GSA New S2S Protocol Version Available

29 August 2006

LAS VEGAS, Nevada – (PRESS RELEASE) -- The Gaming Standards Association has released an updated version of its System-to-System (S2S) protocol. The new S2S version 1.2 on is now available for free download on the GSA website,

S2S is a significant milestone for the gaming industry, providing the foundation for multi-system management of casino floors. The standard allows player tracking, ticket-in-ticket-out (TITO) and accounting systems from multiple manufacturers to co-exist on a single casino floor, providing a fully integrated centralized solution. Version 1.2 builds on version 1.1, and is expected to serve as the development base for systems in the short-term and mid-term.

Walt Eisele, VP Advanced Systems Development of Bally Technologies Inc. (NYSE: BYI) and S2S Committee Chair said, "The S2S committee has worked hard for the last several months to provide S2S version 1.2 to the gaming industry. It has unified several interim protocol versions into a single protocol allowing for a much easier implementation path for new implementers. Significant enhancements to patron management, device registration as well as a much improved event model based on G2S are some of the version 1.2 highlights."

GSA Technical Director Marc McDermott said, "To put it simplistically, we have gathered all the protocols that were out there, and bundled them together in a comprehensive protocol. This is the standard that everyone should be working from at this point."
