Group wants to build Delaware casino25 June 2009DELMAR, Delaware -- As reported by The Daily Times: "A Wilmington businessman announced today an ambitious proposal to build a gambling casino on a 100-plus acre parcel off Route 13, pending approval by Delaware and Sussex County officials. "Developer James Rostocki said the proposed casino would compliment events at the adjacent Delaware Motorsports Complex that has the U.S. 13 Dragway, for quarter-mile drag racing; and the Delaware International Speedway, for dirt-track racing. The casino also would compete directly with proposed slots gambling venues near the Ocean Downs Racetrack outside Ocean City and Pimlico in Baltimore, he said. "The Delmar complex, on 131 acres within the town limits, also would include a hotel, with indoor entertainment and convention space and a retail shopping area, said Rostocki, who intends to submit a formal proposal to Delmar and Delaware elected officials by October after a state legislative committee makes a recommendation on whether to allow more casino venues in the state. "The Big Three casinos in Delaware currently are in Dover, Harrington and Wilmington, which also have horse racing. Another group has proposed a casino with horse racing in Millsboro, pending the outcome of the legislative recommendation..." |
