Group Proposes Delaware Casino

GEORGETOWN, Delaware – As reported by the (Delaware) Cape Gazette: "Sussex Entertainment Group principles Constantine F. Malmberg III, Frank Fantini and Ron Schafer want to bring a six-story hotel and a two-story casino to Georgetown.

"The trio of businessmen presented a plan to build the estimated $35 million casino-hotel to members of the Greater Georgetown Chamber of Commerce, March 31, hoping to convince at least 60 percent of the chamber's 220 members to support their plan.

"…The entertainment group plans to place at least 2,500 video slot machines in its casino, along with a 1,000-person-capacity ballroom, which Malmberg said would be perfect for entertainment events. The 175,000- square-foot hotel will feature 150 rooms and a conference center. Both businesses would purchase materials and contract services from locally based businesses, Malmberg said.

"…All told, Malmberg said the proposal would bring 600 direct new jobs to the Georgetown area, as well as 1,740 indirect jobs…"
