Group joins NY casino challenge

NEW YORK – As reported by the Mid Hudson News: "The Catskill Center for Conservation and Development has joined a group of community and conservation organizations in a court challenge of the federal approval for the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe casino proposed for Monticello Raceway in Sullivan County.

"The group has joined with the Natural Resources Defense Council and other co-plaintiffs seeking to force federal officials to complete a comprehensive assessment of the congestion, sprawl, pollution and other community impacts that they believe would result.

"…But Empire Resorts' Vice President Charles Degliomini said this is just another group that has been encouraged to 'jump on the anti casino, anti-Indian bandwagon, after the bell has already rung, without adding anything new to the dialogue.'…"
