Great Canadian Gaming to run park-and-ride

RICHMOND, British Columbia – As reported by the Richmond Review: "The Canada Line's only park-and-ride facility will be owned and operated by Great Canadian Gaming Corporation after the casino operator struck a deal with transit planners.

"Announced Monday, a 1,600-space parkade will be built across from the casino and connected to the future Bridgeport rapid transit station.

"During weekdays, from 5:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., 1,200 stalls will be reserved for transit riders and 600 stalls will be allocated for riders all other times. It's unclear how that would be regulated.

"Great Canadian agreed to build the $33-million facility to provide more parking for patrons and staff of River Rock Casino Resort, which already has a 1,200-stall parkade of its own.

"The parkade was originally part of InTransitBC's construction plans. Instead, Great Canadian will receive two hectares of land and $4.5 million in cash from Canada Line Rapid Transit Inc. to build it…"
