Grand Casino Employees Courted by Union1 March 2005GULFPORT, Mississippi – As reported by the Biloxi Sun Herald: "Unite Here, which represents hospitality workers in Atlantic City, N.J., and Las Vegas, is courting Grand Casino employees. "Caesars Entertainment, the parent company of the casinos, said it will follow its policy in other states and not oppose the union's efforts. The company owns the Sheraton Tunica, Grand Tunica, Grand Gulfport and Grand Biloxi. "'Following our practice, Caesars Entertainment has decided that it will not oppose the unionization of staff positions in Mississippi that are subject to collective bargaining agreements in Las Vegas and Atlantic City,' said Robert W. Stewart, vice president of corporate communications for Caesars. 'In general, that means that the company will not oppose efforts to organize hotel, food and beverage and engineering positions. Casino and cage positions are not covered under the agreement.'…" |
