Governor Pataki Proposes Gaming Commission28 May 2004NEW YORK – As reported by the Buffalo Business First: "Gov. Pataki has proposed establishing a state gaming commission that would oversee gambling in the state. "The aim of the new commission would be to improve oversight, and centralize the regulatory functions currently being performed by the state Racing and Wagering Board, the Division of Lottery, the State Police and the Capital Investment Fund. "…The commission would be comprised of five members who would serve full-time for five-year terms, and would oversee five divisions: horse racing and pari-mutuel waging, Native American gambling, charitable gambling, the regulation of video lottery terminals (a type of slot machine) and enforcement…" |
