Governor McGreevey Invites Gaming Analysts to Dinner13 January 2004NEW JERSEY – As reported by the Press of Atlantic City: "Gov. James E. McGreevey has invited about a dozen Wall Street gaming analysts to dinner at his Princeton mansion to improve the administration's image among a group skeptical of his commitment to the Atlantic City casino industry. "Atlantic City gaming attorney Lloyd Levenson is arranging the dinner, scheduled for Jan. 26 at Drumthwacket. "Seven of 12 analysts contacted Monday by The Press said they had been invited. Most said they had no clue why they were invited, saying only that 'this guy Lloyd' called. "…Gaming analysts have a negative opinion of McGreevey. The governor in his first year floated the possibility of taxing casino complimentaries, then considered the idea of allowing slot machines at racetracks. Last year he signed a $90 million casino tax and now is pushing for a casino-funded plan to bail out the horse-racing industry…" |
