Georgia Casino Plans on Hold

BRUNSWICK, Georgia – As reported by the Brunswick News: "Plans for a $3 million renovation to the Old Casino sputtered and stalled before Glynn County planning commissioners Tuesday.

"In their final meeting before being replaced by two new planning boards next month, commissioners deferred a site plan review and Village Preservation District review of the St. Simons Island landmark, essentially asking architect John Tuten to go back to the drawing board on the Casino project and resubmit his drawings to the incoming planning board.

"…Commissioners seemed puzzled by several elements of the design, asking for further information about the color and material of the proposed fabric cover over the courtyard and whether the site plans satisfied parking requirements.

"Since the Casino would fall within the Village Preservation District, detailed drawings and color schemes were necessary for commissioners to take action, Fields said…"
