George Lopez's Chingon Kitchen to open at Vee Quiva

5 November 2018

(PRESS RELEASE) -- George Lopez, stand-up comedian, television and film actor, talk show host, author and restauranteur, and Michael Zislis of Manhattan Beach, California-based Zislis Group, will open George Lopez’s Chingon Kitchen at Gila River Hotels & Casinos - Vee Quiva Hotel and Casino in early 2019.

The fast-casual restaurant will pay homage to Lopez’s heritage and feature authentic Mexican cuisine in a vibrant, urban-inspired setting with hand-painted graffiti murals influenced by Mexican history, folklore and culture.

“I am thrilled to bring Chingon Kitchen to Arizona and partner with Gila River Hotels & Casinos to open my second restaurant,” Lopez said. “Whether you’re a fan of mine or a fan of Mexican food, the restaurant offers something for everyone in a fun and high-energy environment.”

“We are proud to partner with a beloved comedian and personality like George Lopez and introduce his exciting dining concept to Arizona,” said Kenneth Manuel, Chief Executive Officer of Gila River Hotels & Casinos. “We are constantly working to give our guests the best in dining, entertainment and gaming, and George Lopez’s Chingon Kitchen will fit in perfectly with that goal at Vee Quiva.”

Staying true to Lopez’s Mexican roots, the restaurant will feature a menu of dishes made from scratch including tacos, burritos, bowls, and salads loaded with wood-fired carne asada, herb crusted rotisserie chicken and spit-fired al pastor. Guests can expect Mexican favorites like handmade guacamole, churros, street corn, horchata and more. Tequila fans will love the restaurant’s large selection of the agave-based spirits and extensive margarita offerings.

The restaurant, which has enjoyed success since Lopez opened the concept last year at San Manuel Casino in Highland, California, is expected to open at Vee Quiva in early 2019.
