Genting still eyeing Macao12 May 2008ACAO -- As reported by the Macau Daily Times: "Justin Leong, the grandson of the founder of Genting Group and all of 30 years old is charged with finding new areas of growth for the Malaysian conglomerate that runs casino, energy and plantation businesses, reports Forbes Asia. "With Asia expected to provide the largest gaming growth in the world, the group's head of strategic investments and corporate affairs hasn't given up on setting up a casino in Macau, he told the magazine. "Despite the recent announcement by the Macau government that it won't award any more casino licenses, Leong is sill hopeful. "...Genting boasts the world's largest hotel, the 6,118-room First World that's part of its Genting Highlands casino resort outside Kuala Lumpur and has become the largest casino operator in the U.K., where it owns 46 venues after buying out Stanley Leisure for US$1.3 billion at the end of 2006..." |
