Genting Bets on Cambodian Casino

CAMBODIA – As reported by the Malaysian Edge Daily: "Ho Wah Genting Bhd expects its Cambodian casino operations to turn around and become the group's main earnings driver this year.

"'Based on the first-quarter figures, I can say that HWGB appears to be back on track,' its group executive chairman Goh Sin Huat told reporters after the company's AGM on May 26.

"He attributed the losses incurred by its casino operations last year to several factors, including the outbreak of the severe acute respiratory syndrome, bird flu, the casino's losing-streak experience and higher advertising and promotion costs…"
