Gaming taxes decline again12 June 2008LAS VEGAS, Nevada -- Gaming taxes associated with April 2008 casino revenues were $55.1 million, a 3.5 percent decline compared with $57.1 million collected for the same period a year ago. For the first 11 months of the fiscal year, gaming taxes collected are $707.8 million, a 4 percent decrease compared with $737.7 million for the first 11 months of last year. In seven out of 11 months, gaming tax collections have fallen below the corresponding month from the previous year. Compared with the gaming tax projections that were predicted by the May 2007 Economic Forum, gaming tax collections are almost 9 percent below estimates. |
