Gaming Pumps Billions into Australian Province

AUSTRALIA – As reported by the (Australia) Sun Herald: "The racing and gaming industry injected $4.2 billion (US$3.02 billion) into the NSW economy in 2001-02, new research shows.

"Research from IER, an independent economic consultancy group, showed $2.3 billion was generated in the Sydney metropolitan area and $1.9 billion in regional NSW.

"…The racing industry and TAB wagering generated more than 40,000 full time jobs, 18,000 of those positions in regional NSW, the survey showed…"
