Gaming Machine Scam Hits New Zealand6 November 2003NEW ZEALAND – As reported by the New Zealand Stuff: "A North Island-wide gaming machine scam which has netted thieves some $50,000 (US$30,626) appears to have been started by Palmerston North crooks. "Bars in half a dozen North Island cities have been hit by the scam, where the money from the machine's reservoir box is stolen and then fed back into the machine. "The thieves let the credit build up, then make the machine pay out. "…The spokesman said it was possible that someone working in the gaming industry had told the thieves of the loophole…" |
