Gaming Donations Fill Australian Government Coffers

AUSTRALIA – As reported by the (Australia) Age: "Former Crown Casino boss Lloyd Williams donated more than $50,000 (US$37,903) to the Victorian branch of the Labor Party last financial year.

"Mr Williams, a close associate of former Liberal premier Jeff Kennett and former Liberal Party federal treasurer Ron Walker, was the Victorian ALP's largest individual donor.

"…Mr Williams has in the past had a combative relationship with the Victorian ALP, who in opposition, made repeated allegations about the integrity of the tendering process for Melbourne's casino licence.

"…Tabcorp gave $41,000 (US$31,080) to Labor and the Liberals, and Tattersalls paid $30,000 (US$22,742) to Labor and $46,000 (US$34,873) to the Liberals…"
